My Home Studio

While I value the access I have to the printmaking studio at the University of Saskatchewan and be part of the campus community of students, staff and instructors, I’m very lucky to have a studio set up in the basement of my home. The space was unfinished and needed some work but in the end it was totally worth it.

My press was a lucky find. A local artist had it in storage for years in her parents garage and when they decided to move, she was looking for someone to take it. It had a lot of surface rust and most of the hardware and the chain needed to be replaced. I added a phenolic resin press bed and gave it a a repaint. Its got it’s quirks, but it prints beautifully.

I made a simple drying rack with clothes pins. Having it next to a heating duct is a nice bonus.

Max is a dedicated studio cat. Occasionally he lets me work.
